Well I never thought I would enjoy writing a book as much as i did “Precious Memoires Memorial,” but I have to tell you “Cemeteries Of The Stars” tops it! I spent one week going to over 11 Cemeteries visiting over 150 final resting places in southern California and I have never enjoyed a “vacation” more. This book captures the final resting places of 90 music legends and TV and motion picture stars. Visiting the stars from my childhood TV shows felt like meeting an old friend. The Three Stooges, Elizabeth Taylor, Jimmy Stewart, Judy Garland, Jack Lemmon, Burt Lancaster, Marilyn Monroe, Donna Reed, Ozzie and Harriet Nelson and of course Ricky!! I had such a crush on him!
The epitaphs were fun to read like Mev Griffin’s, “I Will Not Be Right Back After This Message” and so many interesting facts. Did you know John Wayne was fluent in Spanish and Elizabeth Taylor didn’t like to be called Liz? It also includes some of our friends from around Nashville: Jean Shepard, Mel Tillis, Sonny James, Elvis Presley, Charlie Rich to name a few.
As a bonus I have added 125 additional “Stars Cause of Death.” Shirley Temple died of Lung Cancer, Steve McQueen had a Heart Attack, Mike Connors died from Leukemia, Rita Hayworth had Alzheimer’s disease. There are so many names you will remember but maybe didn’t know what they died from. As time marches on it’s good reflect on such wonderful people who touched our lives. Cemeteries Of The Stars is a book I know you will treasure.
